Director, Beach Head Coach, 12U 4v4 Head Coach
Luka Senk
Luka brings a wealth of high-level experience and technical expertise to the beach volleyball court. As an NCCP Advanced Development Coach and a National Silver Medalist, he is committed to helping athletes elevate their performance through skillful instruction and a deep understanding of the game.
A former Varsity volleyball player and team captain at Wilfrid Laurier University, Luka earned several accolades including Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year, and Academic All-Canadian honors. His playing career also includes time with the Junior Beach Volleyball National Team, along with Gold Medals at both the Regional and Provincial Beach Volleyball Games.
In addition to his coaching achievements—such as serving as Head Coach  and Technical Director for Altitude Beach Volleyball and coaching for Team Ontario Beach—Luka has also been an alpine coach at Georgian Peaks. Outside of sport, he works locally as a Physiotherapist at Blue Mountain Physiotherapy, bringing a well-rounded approach to athlete development that blends performance training with injury prevention.

Director, 17U Avalanche Coach, Beach Coach
Kelly Senk
Kelly draws on her extensive background in competitive beach volleyball to create a fun, supportive, and empowering environment for athletes. As a Certified NCCP Development Coach, she is passionate about developing strong, confident female athletes both in sport and in life. Beyond volleyball, Kelly is also an accomplished distance runner who enjoys racing everything from 5Ks to half marathons on both roads and trails.
She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, where she competed for five years on the Varsity volleyball team, earning recognition as team captain, MVP, and Rookie of the Year.
Kelly’s coaching and athletic achievements include leading the 16U Altitude Volleyball team as Head Coach, working with Volleyball Canada as a Youth March Break Beach Coach, and coaching at the Madawaska Camp Beach Program. As a player, she captured a Gold Medal in indoor volleyball and a Silver Medal in beach volleyball at the World Masters Games, along with a Bronze Medal at the Beach Volleyball Summer Games.

Beach Volleyball Development Coach
Lyla Elsley
Lyla has been playing volleyball since Grade 7, starting out with the Collingwood Black Diamonds. After two seasons there, she moved on to play for the Barrie Elites from 15U to 18U, where she continued to grow her skills and love for the game. She received the OVA Award of Excellence in her 18U year. She was captain and MVP every season for Collingwood Collegiate Institute (CCI), leading her team with energy, confidence, and a strong team spirit. Since 2021, Lyla has also been competing on the Ontario Beach Tour and is currently still a beach athlete. From 2019 to 2023, Lyla attended Madawaska Volleyball Camp, first as a camper and later as a coach. She made the Madawaska All-Star team in both 2022 and 2023. Lyla is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Queen’s University.

17U Avalanche Coach
Laura Powers
Laura Powers grew up in Collingwood and started her volleyball journey at Collingwood collegiate Institute. She played club for Georgian Bay Vista in Midland, and went on to play for regional and provincial teams. From there she received a scholarship to Boston College, where she played for two years, and then finished her career at University of Toronto for two seasons. It is there that she won OUA champions for the 2004-2005 year, was Academic All Canadian and part of the OUA All-star team for the 2004-2005 season. In her off seasons from indoor volleyball she played beach volleyball in the OVA circuit. 
She currently lives in the Blue Mountains with her family, loves any sport that takes her outside, and is a physiotherapist. 

17U Avalanche Coach
Ian MacLachlan
Ian fell in love with the sport of volleyball during high school in rural Nova Scotia. He graduated from Dalhousie University with his Bachelor of Physical Education and Bachelor of Education degrees. Being active, coaching, and working with kids have been focal points of his career. 
Whether teaching in the Caribbean, Australia or here in Collingwood and surrounding communities, he has been active in coaching, promoting sport, physical literacy and youth engagement. 
Ian has experience coaching for various clubs in the area, and this season he is super excited to join the Altitude Team and to help continue growing a love for this amazing sport within our community.

17U Avalanche Coach
Melissa Clifford
Melissa is a multi-sport athlete and coach who has a deep passion for sport and athlete development. At the University of Toronto, she competed as a three-sport varsity athlete: in volleyball, winning three OUA championships; in track and field, earning national bronze in high jump; and in rowing, where she was named Novice of the Year. While earning her Masters in Exercise Physiology in the UK, she captained both the varsity and England Universities volleyball teams. She went on to compete in beach volleyball across Canada and Europe, and earned medals at the World Masters Games, partnering with Kelly Senk! 
Her coaching background includes 3 seasons with Team Ontario Beach Volleyball and the National Beach Volleyball Training Centre and 12 years coaching varsity track at U of T. 
In addition to coaching, Melissa teaches in the Kinesiology Department at York University and runs her own practice as a Naturopathic Doctor, integrating science and holistic health to support athlete performance.

16U Landslide Coach
Jolyne Simonek
Jolyne is a multi-disciplined athlete and coach, competing in various individual and team sports throughout her athletic career.   
 Outside of school volleyball she played Club with the Collingwood Cubs, Guelph Grizzlies and Barrie Elites, winning gold at nationals.  She also attended development training camps with the Waterloo Warriors, Madawaska Volleyball Camp and the KW Predators.
Since then, her love for the sport has only grown with a special interest in high performance skills and development. She has previously coached the Beaver Valley Public School volleyball team, and Georgian Bay Secondary School volleyball team. 
Jolyne graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science.
She looks forward to bringing a rounded mental and physical approach to the game to help athletes build and discover their potential within the sport. 

15U Alpine Coach
Nic Cercado
Nic began their volleyball journey in 2002, playing club volleyball in the Greater Toronto Area and attending advanced training and development camps to strengthen their technical skills.
Alongside a nearly two decade career in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Combat Medic, Nic has consistently represented the military community on the court. Represented CFB Kingston, CFB Shilo, and CFB Borden, at the Military Provincial Championships in Ontario and Western Canada, as well as at the Military National Championships. Their high-level defensive play earned them an invitation to the Canadian Military National Team Training Camps as a Libero.
Beyond playing, Nic also contributed to the development of athletes as a coach at CFB Shilo and CFB Borden, where they shared their expertise in skill development, game strategy, and teamwork.
Bringing together discipline, leadership, and a passion for the sport, Nic is recognized as both a respected competitor and coach within the military volleyball community.

14U Heatwave Coach
Tyler Chatterson
Tyler’s passion for sports has been a defining aspect of his life, beginning with his high school years as a competitive ski racer. He competed on the Southern Ontario team, then for CCI winning gold at OFFSA. Tyler transitioned into coaching, spending two seasons at Osler Bluff, where he shared his knowledge and passion with the next generation of athletes.
After high school, Tyler decided to try volleyball, playing as the starting middle for three years at Wilfred Laurier University (WLU), alongside Luka.
Tyler enjoys spending time with his family and watching his girls develop life skills through sport.  He is really looking forward to joining the Altitude team.

14U Heatwave Coach
Julie Davis
Julie Davis has dedicated much of her life to sports, competing in various disciplines such as ringette, basketball, and volleyball during high school. These experiences taught her the valuable skill of balancing sports with other aspects of life. As an adult, Julie continues to enjoy playing soccer, beach volleyball, indoor volleyball, and skiing.
Julie began her coaching journey many years ago, initially working with elementary school teams and junior girls' volleyball. More recently, she served as an assistant coach for the U10 girls' soccer team with Collingwood United and coached intermediate girls' volleyball at the elementary level. Her extensive experience also includes serving as a team manager for the Osler girls' ski teams and the U15 Altitude Avalanche indoor volleyball team.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biology and a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from Queen’s University. Her professional background includes treating upper extremity injuries with a focus on hand injuries. Julie is thrilled to join the Altitude coaching team and is eager to contribute to the growth of the sport in her hometown.

13U Ascent Coach and Youth Development Coach
Julie Nolan
Julie participated in the Varsity volleyball program at the University of Waterloo in 2003 and graduated from the Environmental Studies- Planning program in 2008. Volleyball has always been one of her favourite sports and is excited to grow the game in Collingwood. Julie previously coached indoor volleyball for the Toronto Leaside U14 Team during the 2012/13 season and has been a certified Skate Canada coach since 2006. She has also recently been coaching power skating and girls hockey fundamentals in the South Georgian Bay area. Julie has vast experience coaching children, youth, and adults and has an energetic and friendly approach to empower athletes to feel confident in growing their skills.

13U Ascent Coach
Jeff Rockwell
Currently spending more time on tennis courts, Jeff Rockwell has also dedicated a substantial chunk of his life on volleyball courts.  Competing at High School, University and Senior Club levels while growing up in New Brunswick, Jeff's love for volleyball has never wavered and is extremely excited to share his passion and knowledge with the Altitude team. 
Jeff has recently coached for Altitude Volleyball with the Winter 2025 4v4 U13 Indoor Tournament team, as well as with the Spring 2025 U13 Altitude Beach Volleyball Development training sessions.  He coached and worked with his children who played volleyball at school and within the Toronto Phoenix Volleyball Club system before the amazing move to Collingwood.  Jeff has been certified as a Level 2 Tennis Instructor and has taken the canfitpro Personal Fitness Training certification course.
Jeff holds a Business Degree from UNBSJ and a Post-Diploma in Sports Marketing from George Brown College.  He has worked for Gatorade, Canada Basketball and the NHL before moving to the less glamorous world of digital advertising sales.  Off the volleyball court, you can find Jeff walking his dog, playing tennis, or in the gym training to survive the next Hyrox Mixed Doubles race.
